
A graduate of American Graduate School of International Management, Thunderbird School of Global Management MBA program, Marcus Asay balances a busy career in the community economic development sector with a commitment to civic duties in and around Fresno, California. Over the past 15 years, Marcus Asay has contributed to the welfare of the community through his work as the executive director of the Workforce Connection of Fresno County, a role in which he guided initiatives to improve the area’s 14 percent unemployment rate.
In addition to his work with the Workforce Connection, Marcus Asay led a fundraising program for the Community Medical Foundation burn and trauma center that generated more than $2 million. He also gives back through his work with non-profit groups such as Hinds Hospice, WellPoint, and E-SUSA.
Professionally, Marcus Asay stands out for his work in the labor and economic development fields. As the founding chair of the American Labor Alliance, he guides an organization that provides benefits to more than 30,000 laborers across the United States and Puerto Rico. Additionally, he leads the Farmworkers Enterprise Foundation and the ie/Cal Design & Development Center and has taught at institutions such as National University and the University of California, Berkeley.
